Nicely located in Caldwell County, ideal for service in the Central Texas area, Luling is a quiet and small town with a strong community. Being so close to Austin, San Antonio and Houston, it was a perfect location for making it our home. We strive to become a valued fixture within Luling, providing both jobs and a source for high quality and nutrient dense animal protein unavailable through local retailers.
Having been a native of Luling for over 20 years, Mr. Clyde Sommerlatte, owner of 2 Bar C Ranch, wanted to bring commerce and local jobs to his community. He and Cole Bolton, owner of K&C Cattle Co (located in Austin) have been partnering together for the last 5 years to improve the genetics of Angus beef and provide consistent, high marbled beef. Through the K&C meat line, they distribute beef to local restaurants and ship beef to families all over the United States. Having endured such rapid growth and the lack of available places to harvest their beef, they felt that Luling would be the perfect place for a processing facility due to being right in the middle between several major cities and the heart of Gonzales and Caldwell County which are heavily centered around agriculture. Together they designed a brand-new state-of-the-art USDA processing facility designed both for the local producers wishing to harvest animals for their families and for those who wish to harvest animals to sell directly to consumers. Through months of due diligence and working with other processors at multiple facilities, Hometown was designed to provide the tools that producers have been asking for:
• Cooler space to age animals
• Minimum wait-time for booking animals to harvest
• Boxing of the final product
• Tracking of the animal from harvest to pick-up
• Higher Quality Fabrication
• Vacuum Packaging of the meats
• Customer-Service
• Private Labeling
Hometown also has a retail counter full of the beef and pork cuts that you can’t just get at the local grocery store. Whether you want that custom cut Tomahawk Ribeye, specialty cuts such as Bavette or the Thors Hammer, we have it all. We have an extensive line of smoked meats and fresh bacon and sausage. We Guarantee You Will Love It. Plus we ship meat packages all across the United States and are happy to send a package to your friends and family.
Located in Luling, Texas, 2BarC Ranch, owned by Clyde Summerlatte, is an industry leader, pioneering in cattle genetics in conjunction with the GrowSafe program providing individual data on each animal by measuring their daily intake and weight gain. His family's approach allows for more efficient genetic performance in terms of feed efficiency, which in turn puts more dollars in your pocket!
Following regenerative ranching practices, KandC Cattle rotationally graze their cattle to utilize and nurture their pastures without any chemical fertilizers and with humanly raised animals, free of antibiotics or hormones. Because of this, KandC Cattle can offer the highest premium quality meats with superior marbling at our storefront and to your door!
In partnership with the 2barC genetics program, KandC Cattle are proud that their focus on genetics allows them to produce an unmatched product in taste, tenderness, and nutrient density.
Luling is a city in Caldwell County, Texas, along the San Marcos River with a population of 5,599. While there is some debate as to how Luling got its name, some say it was named for a Chinese railroad worker, but most others will tell you it was named after a New York banker, Charles Luling, whose good friend, Thomas Wentworth Pierce provided financing for the railroad as well as for the purchase of the land that became Luling.
After buying the land, Luling founded the city in 1874 as a railroad town and became a rowdy center for cattle drivers on the Chisholm Trail. Contempt of the law by the cowboys helped Luling become known as the “toughest town in Texas.”
In the late 1800's as the great cattle drives began to dwindle and Luling began to quiet down, it would go through slow transitions that would later turn it into a hub for agriculture, oil and gas. Today, Luling is well known all over the state for its BBQ, cattle, watermelons, and oil, Luling has it all!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
