Serving Texas with Fresh Meat
“Necessity is the mother of all invention,” as the saying goes, but when you add to that sentiment innovation, passion, and conviction, the result is a processing plant tailored for Hometown, USA, or in our case, Luling, Texas. In 2019, Clyde Sommerlatte, owner of 2 Bar C Ranch, experienced rapid herd growth of his pasture-raised Black Angus cattle. This growth brought with it the growing need to be able to have the cattle processed in a timely manner. Necessity quickly evolved into a challenge, and one that many of his fellow producers were also facing due to limited processing options.
Producers needed a trustworthy nearby facility to process their animals for their families and farm-to-table businesses. The logical solution - build a USDA processing facility for custom processing to service this Central Texas area. Clyde and his former business partner began the hard work and in 2022, Hometown Meat Market opened its doors. HMM provides custom processing for producers and families and provides a source for high quality proteins available for purchase by the public.
Since the doors opened, Clyde’s 2 Bar C Black Angus genetics have been utilized in the processing plant and made available to customers in-store and online. These cattle are raised in Texas pastures in a rotational grazing cycle. They’re grass-fed and finished on locally sourced grains to enhance their marbling. The cattle are not injected with mRNA vaccines or growth hormones.
Hometown Meat Market offers premium beef at competitive prices, along with chicken, beautiful cuts of pork and Texas raised quail. If you’re looking for quality meat and a cut that you typically can’t find at the grocery store, we can help you out – whether it’s as impressive Tomahawk Ribeye, heart-shaped ribeye, Thor’s Hammer, or other custom or hard-to-find cut. We proudly stock a variety of classic cuts for customers wanting tried-and-true favorites, and for those wanting to venture out of their culinary comfort zones and try something different we have a wide selection of cuts.
Our smoke house produces a variety of smoked bacons, sausages, jerky, and snack sticks. There will be a cut to love for anyone who loves premium quality meats! We offer product availability in-store and we ship across the continental United States. We’re delighted to ship directly to you or send a bundle to your friends and family! 2 Bar C Ranch headquarters is located on FM 1322 just beyond the outskirts of Luling, Texas. At 2 Bar C, cattle herds are essential to our regenerative approach to conservation-minded ranching. We nurture our herds from conception until consumers purchase our nutrient-rich, well-marbled beef, available at Hometown Meat Market in Luling.
Our cattle are pasture-raised in Central Texas, finished on locally sourced grains, and humanely processed at Hometown Meat Market.
2 Bar C focuses on improving feed efficiency and marbling characteristics in our registered Black Angus herd through genetics. This is a game changer for both registered and commercial herds.
